Hebrew Alphabet Writing Practice

 Step-by-Step Practice Routine

  1. Start with a Letter Chart
    • Use a printed or digital chart showing all 22 Hebrew letters.
    • Include final forms (sofit letters): ך, ם, ן, ף, ץ.
  2. Trace and Copy
    • Begin by tracing each letter to learn its shape.
    • Then copy each letter freehand multiple times.
    • Practice both block (print) and script (cursive) styles if desired.
  3. Say It as You Write
    • Say the letter name and sound aloud while writing.
    • Example: “Bet – B” as you write ב.
  4. Group Practice
    • Practice letters in small groups (e.g., 5 at a time).
    • Focus on similar shapes or sounds together (e.g., ב/כ/פ).
  5. Use Lined Paper
    • Helps maintain consistent size and alignment.
    • Write right to left, as Hebrew is read and written that way.
  6. Add Vowel Marks (Niqqud)
    • Once comfortable, practice adding vowel dots under/around letters.
    • Example: בּ (with dagesh = “B”), ב (without = “V”).
  7. Write Simple Words
    • Combine letters to form basic words like אב (father), אם (mother), בית (house).
    • Practice reading and writing them.
  8. Daily Practice
    • Spend 10–15 minutes a day writing.
    • Repetition builds muscle memory and confidence.
